Must Read

I received the following in one of those "pass-it-on" emails. I usually delete that stuff but thought this worthy of posting.

It is attributed to a really ticked off woman from New Jersey. If truly from her, I would love to meet her. I have taken out the parts about passing it on.

Amen, .... again I say Amen.

"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?

Well, I don't. I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11..

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia .

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran.."

Personal Responsibility

The lack of personal responsibility for incidents/tragedies is one of our morals that as a country has been slipping over the last few decades.

Case in point.


Notice how the SUV jumped the curb and rammed the students before it hit the tree. If you apply the leftist theory on gun control to this incident......it is time to ban vehicles. After all, the beginning of the article reads
"BELMONT, Calif. — A sport utility vehicle jumped a curb outside a middle school Wednesday afternoon, plowed into a group of children waiting for a bus and rammed into a tree, trapping several students underneath, police said."
Notice how the SUV did all this on its own? Notice how they do not say that a person driving the vehicle did this. The SUV apparently, with a mind of its own, targeted these children.

The psycho at Virginia Tech a couple of weeks ago. Come on lefties, the guns did not kill anyone. A psycho used a gun to do his evil.

Personal responsibility.........GET SOME!

Two spokes of the wheel

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.



These are the heart and soul of the Bill of Rights. I have been reading the last several days that there was an importance to the order in which the amendments were written. In other words the right to freedom of speech was more important than the right to keep and bear arms, which was more important than the freedom from self-incrimination etc. etc.


I think our founding fathers were a bit tricky and sly for a bunch of old Virginia farmers, newspaper men, South Carolina farmers, Lawyers, and tinkers. These two amendments

GUARANTEE


that they did not plan on enumerating all the rights that were kept by the people. They instead designed a Republic of the people, by the people, and for the people, where any rights that were not enumerated were retained by WE THE PEOPLE.

Think I am going to do some more digging about the life and times of these sly and very wise drafters of our Constitution.

There are some simple amendments to the Constitution (the first ten of which are commonly referred to as the Bill of Rights for those of you who qualify to be on Jay Leno's sidewalk talk piece), that specifically state certain rights retained by the people and limit the powers of government. These amendments are pretty clear in their intent and I feel very ignored by people today.

Lets Explore them separately and see where this goes.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The intent = NO law shall be imposed that prohibits or diminishes the PEOPLES rights to the above mentioned items. There is NO provision here to limit my speech to only that which is not offensive to someone or some group. For example. The rules and laws prohibiting such things as wearing an American flag in school because it may offend a person of Mexican heritage or praying in public because it MAY offend a Muslim, are flat out unconstitutional. We the People retain the right to say what we feel needs to be said, pray when and to whom we like, assemble peaceably, etc without fear of retribution from the government because it may hurt the fealings of someone or some group. This is not to say that I support the views of some radical groups such as the Nation of Islam, Aryan Nation, KKK, etc, but I do support their rights to SAY what they want, ASSEMBLE PEACEABLY where they want, and to petition the government for redress of grievances.

The misuse = This amendment has recently been the foundation for lawsuits and laws being passed to prohibit the speech of one group that may simply hurt the feelings of another group. GET OVER IT. The meaning of this amendment is best described in my book as
"As much as I may hate the content of your speech, I MUST as a citizen RESPECT your right to say it." No where in the constitution does the right to be supported in your views exist. If it does, someone please point me to it.


A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The intent = First off, I read this as a list. The founding fathers saw a need for TWO things and covered it in one amendment.
a. A well regulated militia being a necessity for the security of a free state.
b. The people's right to keep and bear arms.

I will post further the 1700's colonial definition of a militia. As to the INTENTION of the founding fathers to the meaning and intent of the second amendment???????? Just read this

"In a nation governed by the people themselves, the possession of arms to defend their nation against usurpers within and without was deemed absolutely necessary. This right is protected by the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. A gun was an everyday implement in early American society, and Jefferson recommended its use. "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun, therefore, be the constant companion of your walks." --Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr, 1785. ME 5:85, Papers 8:407

"No freeman shall be debarred the use of arms (within his own lands or tenements)." --Thomas Jefferson: Draft Virginia Constitution (with his note added), 1776. Papers 1:353

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Intent = This is the most unknown and unquoted amendment in my opinion. Ever read it? Any right listed shall not be interpreted to deny other rights explicitly retained by the people. Followed by the tenth.....

Misuse = No scholar is required to read and interpret the constitution. Pretty clear the meaning. People retain rights. Not loose them because times change.

Intent = In conjunction with the ninth.......If its not in here it is retained by the states and the
people.

Misuse = ONE BIG ONE COMING. Should Sen. Clinton win the presidencay, Socialized medicine will be forthcoming. Where in the constitution does it say that you have the right to medical treatment? "Life, liberty, and the pursuit...." Don't think so. Many people have construed this to mean that the government provide welfare type medical care......try again. A citizen is entitled to live here. Not be provided for.

Many months of down-time

I realized after starting a blog that there is an awful lot of work required to maintain a good blog. I quickly fell into the hole of not posting. I guess I really did not have much to say when no-one was responding in anyway, shape, or form.

I am now re-entering the blogging world with a new focus in life. What I have to say in this forum needs to be said. The normal press is not performing well, and some of the rights of Americans are being eroded daily.

My intention is to be a voice in stopping this downward spiral.

Signs of Bigotry on MLK Day

I bet Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is rolling over in his grave. Signs of bigotry from the black mayor of New Orleans.

Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans

“"It's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild New Orleans _ the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans," the mayor said. "This city will be a majority African American city. It's the way God wants it to be. You can't have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn't be New Orleans."

Bigotry is wrong no matter what side of the coin is guilty of committing it. It is just as wrong for a black man to make statements like the above as it would for a white man to do the same.

I have a problem with this on many sides but here are just a few.

  1. What would happen if a white mayor said that he wanted his city to be predominately white? (You can insert all sorts of lawsuits, investigations, etc, etc., etc., here).
  2. Did Dr. King really express dominance of any class or race over the other? NO! See post from Friday for a link to his entire “I have a dream” speech.
  3. Maybe they should only use Black tax dollars from Louisiana to rebuild the city
  4. I am going to be labeled a racist just for suggesting these points and publishing them here.

Get over it folks. What part of Equality is so difficult to understand? I will say it now. Mayor Nagin – You are a racist. Solve your core problems first. During your recent parade to a meeting on the planning and rebuilding, the parade was marked by shots fired and two people killed. During rescue operations helicopters and rescue workers were fired at. Your police officers were observed by news crews partaking in the looting. I think you should address the propensity towards violence and crime in your city before you start attempting to impose your racial agenda.

Should New Orleans be rebuilt? Not for me to say. If the residents feel they want to try and rebuild in a flood plain then that is between them and their insurance companies. Should I have to pay for it? NO! Should some of my tax dollars be used to clean up and rebuild. Sure. Rebuild the infrastructure, reinforce the dikes and levees, but to use my tax dollars to rebuild a private home or establishment. HELL NO! That is what insurance and hard work are for. I do not expect I will get any help from other states when a freak tornado takes out my home. My insurance (which I work hard to pay for) will cover that.

I really hate post like this. The fact that it irks me enough when statements are made like Mayor Nagin made eases that pain a little. I really tend to open my mouth, and now my keyboard, when I notice problems and stupidity that seems to coincide with them.

This is the Land of the Free baby! Not the land of the immense welfare state. The Statue of Liberty has an inscription that reads:

”Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”

Nowhere in this invitation does it state that you will then receive free healthcare, free food, or a free ride. I will give you the free air to breath though. Our founding fathers knew the importance and the benefits of hard work and an entrepreneurial spirit. They worked hard, as many after them still do. The only promise this country offers is the FREEDOM to prosper. We do not offer a government-backed guarantee of prosperity. Work for what you want and need.
